fallen star

aching for madness
legs and arms stretched out
a fall into void-spinning vertigo
depths unknown

ebon night velvet
wrapping me in fold after fold
and secrets untold
slipping into an oblivion
of a goddess' embrace

let me be the fallen star
for once

walk on, dreamer

dusty boots
dusty roads
tall prairie grass
same as it ever was
undulating waves
rolling over hills
either side
under a sunset
red sun

water bag sunwarmed sip

time to add some
more road dust
to dustcrust boots
nighttime can wait

walk on
walk on

in the library, ancient recall

©2022 Michael Raven

there is no library
with inverse histories
no falling in feathers
while lost in the stacks
i was only lost inside
this splintered head
that began with
a broken kiss

dusting off books
piled in the shadows
it returns returns
and downside
turns upside anew

incantation, reflect, recall
ingrain, carve into
memory for when that
next time returns again
