planting the seeds
compassion
empathy
two ravens piercing
here is reward
here is renewal
after the clash
fire & ice

Note: For the purposes of these runepoems, I randomly select three runes and consider the meanings of each rune as I interpret and understand them based on a number of different resources, which may or may not be in alignment with accepted interpretations. I am a rune enthusiast, not an expert or scholar. These “runecasts” are not intended to be treated as divinatory, although there are elements of personal alchemy and shamanic practice in the crafting of each poem.

one step closer
to infinity
caught in that tangled skein
we dancing puppets
strain along the terminus
until love comes crashing
in

Special note: As I contemplated these random runes today, it seemed to speak to me of the new beginnings many people seem to find in the passing from one year to the next. I don’t tend to make New Year’s resolutions, as I consider my personal alchemy to be in constant flux and a garden that needs to be weeded constantly. However, it seems as appropriate (perhaps more so) to extend my sincere wishes to everyone that the next year favors you in your lives, given and received, with the three items in the poem: patience, compassion and love. Almost everyone I know seems to need more of those things — so please pay it forward if you have enough to spare for the next person. There are many people who struggle to find enough in their lives. Go, with love.

thought & memory
carry my galdrar aloft
windwalking

patience
compassion
& love
spelled forth
as the wheel
spins anew

the path
endless, with many tempting detours

when encountering other wayfarers
with compassion
one discovers oneself --
lampposts illuminating the way

cutting the past away
sloughing skins old
digging into forest loam
hammer break the shackles
i've slipped over
my own wrists
to burst forth
reborn

interloper rune

As I was moving my sachet of runes, algiz (ᛉ) fell to the floor. Because I rarely accept events such as that as being a coincidence, I have included algiz in the poetry above as a modifier rune.

Argument: Ever evolving this process, I have decided that three is a sacred number for runes (as is nine) and have expanded the number of runes to include in my exploration. Please do not confuse this for a wyrd reading, there is no divination implied in these rune explorations. However, there is always shamanic and internal alchemy being explored.

bloodless,
the time has come
to withdraw
to the center
draw forth, prepare
for the wyrding days
to come

mannaz: self-actualization, mind and memory, opening the eye, humankind, divine influence

inguz: male energies, self care, creative energy, storage and building of energy, inner child, gestation

Note: There is no divinatory question being considered, but merely an investigation into the relationships the runes might suggest as they come together. For these exercises, I am not considering the murkstave implications from the drawing, but focusing exclusively on the core concepts. At a later date I may consider the implications presented by a reversed rune — possibly when I start casting the runes in a more traditional way — but I am more intent on learning the primary meanings and making connections via wyrd at this time.

spiral dancing
through time, space
potential arising
we will stretch together
to reach the stars
when they align
again

mannaz: mind and memory, intelligence, divinity in self, mind’s eye, self-actualization

jera: growth solstice, the power of time, cyclic nature, patience

Note: For the purposes of these pieces, I am drawing exactly two runes each day, reviewing their suggested interpretations from several sources (listed above for each) in an attempt to meditate on their potential meanings as they might relate to each other. There is no divinatory question being considered, but merely an investigation into the relationships the runes might suggest as they come together.
