Tonight: Heilung

I’m really looking forward to this event. And, while I quite enjoy the band and their music, I am most interested in the “ceremonial” ritual experience that they bring more than the music itself. If I think of it and it seems appropriate, I’ll snap some pictures — but I’m not going to make it a production to do so.

I may also try to hang out before or stick around after the show if I get a sense I can get an autograph or meet the band.

This should be, at the very least, interesting.

In just about a week and a half, I will be attending the Heilung ceremony passing through our neck of the woods. It seems surreal after all this time — it was in December that I purchased my ticket and so much has happened that it seems impossible that it is less than two weeks away.

I’m looking forward to it, but not with fan-goggles worn. I definitely like Heilung’s music, but I couldn’t tell you what will play next on an album. It’s never seemed all that important to be able to sing along or know what to expect. I’m not a “fan” of the music or the band so much as I am a “fan” of the conceptual elements behind what they are doing. They are trying to recreate an experience, which usually sit well with me even if I hate a band’s music. And I like Heilung’s music quite a bit.
