waiting for my
daughter's bus
umbrella closed
and resting
across my
shoulders

she tells me [skipping
down the street]
her driver asked
why i brought
a sword to
pick her up 

laughing, i
imagine i am
a fierce samurai
wielding a black
katana in a war
with the rain
