Having been reminded that NaPoWriMo has started again this year (thanks, Jennifer), I’ve decided to toss my hat into the ring, and participate. The concept is similar to NaNoWriMo, but instead of writing a novel in the month of November, the idea is to post at least one poem a day in April. Commence nail biting…

Actually, for those of you who have been around here, the idea of my participation is really a no-brainer. Even though this is my first year officially participating, I’ve considered jumping in year past, and with approaching my 1000-days of posting on this site at least once a day, the bulk of which is poetry, I figure… well, I’ve got this. Easy-Peasy.
I probably will not follow the given prompts, nor is it a requirement of participation to do so. I’ll probably just continue to do my thing.
If you’re the kind of person who has done a lot of writing in the past, but let it fall by the wayside, this is a good opportunity to stretch out your mental muscles and get back into the habit of writing on a daily basis, whether it is short haiku, or longer form writing, or something that might not really be a poem, but we’ll overlook the heavy dose of prose in it and call it poetry for this month. More writers than not recommend that the best way to improve your writing it to write often and frequently, so use April to get back into the saddle and write some awesome, glorious stuff that will wow readers.
Now, I have to go take care of Nature’s April Fools Joke on me and go shovel seven inches of wet, heavy, March snowfall (with hail and rainwater at the bottom).
Let me know in the comments if you are participating in NaPoWriMo.
Enjoy the creative process it offers.

I know what you mean. I felt the same about nanowrimo last autumn.
