Feeling rather Bradbury with a sudden urge to read all of his macabre (rather than his scifi) all over again.
I get these urges for authors every once in a while. Most of the time it is Heinlein, Salinger, Lovecraft (and kindred) or Kafka; occasionally Poe or Doyle.
Something Wicked This Way Comes has probably always been my favorite, but he’s got a few other collections of macabre that I’m itching to recall. It’s probably because I think of his writing while reviewing this ARC I’m reading. It’s the overall feeling of what the compilation is trying to get at (I think), rather than the actual contents. It’s the first thing that came to mind while thinking about what I was reading. And now I am obsessing about Bradbury’s macabre shorts in my head.
I get this way too, often craving the words of a specific writer. Oh, how I wish there were more hours in a day!

I tend to be one of those people who is “one-and-done” with most books, but yes, there are days I wish I could bury myself in a handful of authors over and over without interruption. I would give almost anything to have one of those portals to the fey realm where time moves differently (in my favor, of course).

Yes! I’d love one of those portals as well. Or the ability to stop time for everyone else but me.

“Something Wicked This Way Comes” creeped me out when I first read it… umm.. in 1997. But I always admired him for such an amazing title. It just… feels right.
