Announcing galdr: thought + memory

©2022 Michael Raven

As I gather up my things to leave Portland and head back home to Minnesota, I thought it might be a good time to share the news that a chapbook of my poetry, galdr: thought + memory is scheduled to be published during the first quarter of 2022 by Raw Earth Ink Publishing. Additional details will follow in the coming months.

If the publisher seems familiar, it is because Tara Caribou approached me a few months ago and asked if I would be interested in having some of my work published. Tara has provided frequent commentary on the blog and I was honored by her offer to get a physical book out in the wild.

As some of you know, I had considered doing that myself, but got overwhelmed by my personal issues and couldn’t find the wherewithal to actually see it through. Tara has experience with this kind of thing and took the hard work out of my hands and has done a spectacular job of shepherding this through to the point where it looks like it might actually see the light of day.

The artwork (aside from the title fonts and the smaller runes) was created by my eldest daughter under my vague direction of what I might like to see. The biggest difficulty she had was holding back her artistic skills to make the sigil look rough and unfinished — she initially wanted to make it much more refined looking than I had wanted. I think she did a great job, personally.

We’re still working through some details before it goes to print, but galdr should be available relatively soon. Stay tuned.

    1. Great news – I shall look forward to that. Gotta love Tara, she always goes that extra mile to publish some great work. It was because of her publishing some of my work in anthologies that I got into putting out more myself. Congrats!
