ending the day in melancholy wanting not wanting seeing not seeing wishing not wishing moments becoming unstuck in time while the bird outside the window asks poo-tee-weet? in the rime descending rivers of whither asking for another song for the old man now dying the riverboat unmoored shifting with currents unhindered by the slipstream flux of forgotten memento mori poo-tee-weet? poo-tee-weet? at least everything was beautiful as the stars dashed themselves into the snow heartache still sour on the tongue but fading into tomorrow
