If you were at all curious as to the musical influences I had for reach/, there are a few: Andreas Vollenweider’s Caverns (for the first bit), Synæsthesia and, their better known alter ego, Delerium (sic). I’m sure I also had an accidental Skinny Puppy or Thrill Kill Kult tucked in there as well, but you’d probably have to look pretty hard for it.
While reach/ didn’t have an overt similarity to any of Delerium’s songs, the band is one of my larger influences once I started experimenting with electronica-oriented songs. My defunct, self-sold album from 2006 had some serious similarities to the point of being an amateur rip-off. Below is one song I’ve always loved, with Jacqui Hunt from Single Gun Theory providing the vocals and, while there is almost no similarity to reach/ I’d have to say that it was still an outsized influence in how I wrote and organized the music.
And how I've loved And I have served And I have sinned But I have learned As long as you are true to the life that you live This is the time to feel love I feel a stirring deep within Slowly picking up momentum Like the tide coming into shore Over and under in it's course This feeling emblazed inside Every nerve like a firefly
