Aha! I thought so when I saw a word starting with a “y”. Love that about Welsh. I also love how some of their place names are like 80 letters long and mostly vowels.
Of course, the copious amounts of single malt that the bartender/owner at the pub where I was learning probably didn’t help matters with memory.
“Right, now this one here has a right peaty flavor I think you might enjoy. What? No? Well, can’t let that go to waste! [tips it back]. Now this one is more leathery and…”
Yeah, the Irish Well was one of those places where everyone was a friend you hadn’t met yet, unless you had met before. In which case, you were already friends.
Oh, the bh=v I do recall. I also wanted to name one of my daughters Siobhan, but the argument was made that it would be butchered by teachers, and so it did not happen. 😦
Gaelic? Welsh?

And Irish Gaelic (it’s been a while) seemed mostly consonants when I was trying to learn it, not all of the combinations with a logic I could follow.

Yeah… Ireland in general feels like that. Wonderful land with wonderful people with the absolute best and most clever sense of humour on this earth.

Irish is interesting. Many letters don’t at all sound like what they are. Siobhan = Sha-vahn…. huh?!?! But anyway… carry on… lol

Fair enough. Lol Irish names are not for the non-Irish-speaking, I guess!
