We hide from sound-paintings on distant walls
We hide from cold still-lives on empty floors
We hide our bent husbands behind slamming doors
Don’t run to the window
Because burning glass warpsWe stand still
Rozz Williams, Sleepwalk
And we stand like whores
We are alone
And we stand still
And we stand like whores
We are alone
We stand still
Yes, we stand like whores
We are alone
We stand still
Sleepwalk is by a band who’s name some people might find offensive, so the video embed and full song credits are omitted. Keep in mind, if you follow the link, the band name is supposedly a criticism of a fashion guru with the same first name. Considering the goth overtones, I’m not convinced. However, Rozz Williams was largely considered the Jim Morrison, a lyrical shamanic genius, of early goth and deathrock. I feel he lost much of that talent when he delved into hardcore drugs and after he left the band in question. Rozz died by suicide April 1, 1998.
